What is the city but the people? ~William Shakespeare
The Over-the-Rhine Chamber embraces the people of the neighborhood, whether it is the small business owner, resident or visitor, OTR welcomes everyone and has been working hard for 28 years to launch numerous programs to support the revitalization of Cincinnati’s most historic and architecturally significant neighborhood.
One of the most critical and successful programs is the Clean and Safe Initiative developed by the Chamber to support their mission of promoting economic vitality. By creating partnerships with residents, business owners and the City, the Chamber has had a significant positive impact on the safety of OTR with a 50% reduction of crime over the past six years; thereby enhancing the quality of life for residents and creating a favorable environment to attract new stakeholders to the urban core. During this same period of time and through its Business First Grant initiative, the OTR Chamber has invested nearly $350,000, attracting over 50 new businesses to the neighborhood and created 180 new jobs, with the majority of those jobs going to OTR residents.
As part of the recent renewal of Over-the-Rhine, the Chamber has also been responsible for creating signature events such as the Annual Star Awards, Second Sunday on Main and the GO OTR 5K Run, bringing thousands of new visitors, and potential shoppers to the neighborhood and the central business district. In addition, the Chamber launched the first ever Holiday Campaign, “See, Shop and Dine”, promoting Over-the-Rhine as the city’s most unique shopping destination for the holidays.
Come celebrate and support this year’s GO OTR 5K Run on May 18, allowing the Over-the-Rhine Chamber to continue its efforts to promote economic vitality for the further revitalization of our beloved neighborhood. In addition, your participation will bring further positive perception to OTR, thereby demonstrating that Over-the-Rhine is a great place to live, work, shop and play!
